We can’t wait for March 17 here in South Orange, when we can celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a pint of Guinness, a green ensemble and hopefully some luck of the Irish! No matter if you’re Dublin born-and-raised or you don’t have an ounce of Irish blood in you, there’s no excuse not to celebrate this fun holiday.

If you’re looking to take part in the festivities without venturing too far from your Gaslight Commons apartment, you’re in luck – we have lots of nearby Irish bars that will do all of the prep and scene-setting for you. Thanks to these hotspots, you’ll feel like you’re celebrating in the Emerald Isle itself!

McGovern’s Tavern, located at 58-60 New St, Newark which is 16 minutes from your Gaslight Commons apartment, is a long-running, low-key neighborhood Irish bar and grill with a pub-grub menu.

Opened in 1936, McGovern’s Tavern is one of the oldest Irish pubs in New Jersey. It started with the idea of having a place where the Irish community could socialize and partake in some Irish music and dancing. It quickly became an institution that still stands today!

Dowling’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, located at 117 Chestnut St, Roselle Park which is 18 minutes from your Gaslight Commons apartment, is a classic Irish bar offering sandwiches and traditional pub grub, plus TVs and live music.

This quaint Irish pub delivers everything from classic messy wings to the unconventional Dowling’s Reuben Rolls. The welcoming atmosphere and simplicity will keep you here or keep you coming back. Grab a beer and enjoy the conversations because the Irish hospitality is more than plentiful!
