It may be chilly outside of our Gaslight Commons apartments here in South Orange, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a little ‘trip’ with our dining plates – there are tons of local restaurants sporting tropical cuisine that will make you feel like you’re on vacation!

If you’re ready for a little mini getaway with a Jamaican, Thai or Mexican dish, then visit these amazing local restaurants and you can feel like – at least during dinner hour – that you’re thousands of miles away from the cold!

Tito’s Burritos, located at 6 W South Orange Ave, South Orange which is four blocks from your Gaslight Commons apartments, is a counter-service joint serving up simple Mexican chow in a setting with beach shack decor.

Tito’s only uses the freshest ingredients in everything they prepare and every order is custom-made the way that you want it. It might take a few minutes longer, but they’ll make sure it’s worth the wait.

Wild Ginger, located at 175 Maplewood Ave, Maplewood which is a five minute drive from your Gaslight Commons apartment, is an unassuming restaurant offering curries, noodles and other classic Thai plates in a relaxed atmosphere.

Some of the regulars’ favorite Thai dishes from this eatery include drunken noodles, which are large, flat noodles with egg, carrots, onions, sweet peas and mushrooms and pad Thai, which are rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, scallions and crushed peanuts.
