With the weather chilly outside, we know there’s nothing you would rather do than stay inside your warm, cozy Gaslight Commons apartment. However, if you’re willing to brave the cold, then you can head to Words Bookstore, located at 179 Maplewood Avenue in Maplewood which is about five minutes from your Gaslight Commons apartment, to pick up a great read.
Words Bookstore is committed to not only providing books, but to also providing the surrounding community an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for people and families to pursue their literary interests, no matter what age they are. They also strive to help the area become a model community of inclusion through their treatment of disabled customers and employees, especially those with autism.
Besides the wide array of books offered, which can be purchased from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday of the week, customers can also place special requests for just about any book that they’re looking for and Words will be able to find it for them. Also, you can join the Words rewards club if you find you’re a frequent customer, where if you spend $200 at the store then you will receive a $20 gift card.
Every Saturday at 11 a.m. at Words is Saturday Storytime, dubbed ‘for kids and their adults’ in which exciting stories are read by Words staff and occasionally local and nationally recognized children’s authors. Also currently on the event calendar for February is Wendy Sachs, author of Fearless and Free, on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m., Peter Waldor, author of State of the Union, on Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. and Nancy Colier, author of The Power of Off, on on Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. among many others.
