South Orange and Maplewood are joining together to host SouthNext which will take place June 17th-19th. Gaslight Commons residents can take part in this community event which aims to honor local speakers and performers by giving them a chance to share their work with other locals.
Over the three days of celebration guests will enjoy great food and music at the South Orange Village Center where the event will take place. The festival has over 10 musical performances scheduled for the exciting weekend as well as over 20 discussions on various topics. Last year was the first year the event took place and it was a great success with close to 1,000 local residents showing up to celebrate. This year, an even bigger crowd is expected to attend.
Some successful programs that were featured in the event that participants may see again—or something similar include Historic Preservation vs. Growth and Age-Old Storytelling vs. Digital Media. Other programs scheduled to take place include a panel about work and life balance and Artistry vs Monetization. In addition to all the wonderful performances and art appreciation opportunities, there will be plenty of cocktails and food for festival goers to enjoy throughout the event! Teching Ball will take place again after proving a huge success last year. This three story cocktail party will give those in the community a chance to mingle and talk about art and the event at their convenience.
Wristbands can be purchased for access to all three days of the festival or individual tickets can be purchased for each day. For more information about what you can expect, timing, tickets and anything else, you can visit the event’s website for further details. Back to Blogs
